Cards Accepted by CSG

What sports cards does CSG grade?

CSG grades virtually all licensed and original sports cards that have been cataloged from the 1880s to the present, as well as non-sports cards that were issued as part of a sports card set. Learn more >

Most non-sports cards should be submitted to CSG's affiliate, CGC Trading Cards. If a card is incorrectly submitted to CSG instead of CGC Trading Cards, or vice versa, it will be transferred to the appropriate company for no additional fee.

Does CSG grade non-sports cards?

CSG focuses on grading sports cards. Its affiliate, CGC Trading Cards, focuses on grading non-sports trading cards. CGC Trading Cards currently grades many of the most popular trading card games, and additional games, sets and types are announced on an ongoing basis. For more information, visit CGCcards.com

Does CSG grade "thick" cards?

CSG accepts sports cards that are up to 7.25 mm thick. Cards that are thicker than standard stock are encapsulated in the CSG Thick Holder, which comes in three sizes: 3.5 mm, 5.5 mm and 7.25 mm. If you are submitting a thick card, select “Thick” under “Holder Type” when filling out the CSG online submission form.

In some cases, certain thick cards that would normally be accepted for certification have irregular dimensions and cannot be encapsulated. In those cases, the cards will be returned unencapsulated ("raw"), and the grading fee will be refunded.

Note: CSG uses a slightly thicker version of its standard holder for odd-sized cards that require a custom inner sleeve to be held securely in place. This holder does not qualify as a “thick” holder as it is only slightly thicker than our standard holder.

Some examples of thick cards include, but are not limited to:

  • Most game used / memorabilia cards
  • Panini Immaculate
  • Panini National Treasures
  • Panini Absolute
  • Panini Prizm Memorabilia
  • Panini Certified
  • Topps Inception
  • Topps Sterling
  • UD SP Authentic
  • Panini Origins
  • Panini One
  • Panini Select
  • Panini Flawless
  • Topps Triple Threads
  • Upper Deck The Cup
  • Topps Project 2020
  • Panini National Treasures

Does CSG grade altered cards?

CSG will not assign a numeric grade to a card deemed altered; however, a card deemed to be altered but authentic can be encapsulated as Authentic Altered.

Does CSG grade “sheet cut” cards?

No, CSG does not grade cards that are “sheet cut” or measure larger than the published catalog size.
