CSG Thick Holders Are Here!

After an intensive design process and rigorous testing, Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG™) is excited to announce the arrival of the CSG Thick Holder!

Available for cards up to 7.25mm thick, the CSG Thick Holder features the same crystal-clear optics, superior materials and sturdy construction as the standard CSG holder. Collectors will love that all CSG holders stack together seamlessly, a revolutionary design in the sports card certification industry.

Examples of cards that can now benefit from the protection of the CSG Thick Holder include most game-used and memorabilia cards, as well as the following series:

Starting July 8, submitters can select the CSG Thick Holder when filling out the CSG online submission form. Under “Holder Type,” there will be an option for “Thick” in the dropdown. If you know your card is a thick card, select that option.

The fee for the CSG Thick Holder is an additional $5 per card. For more information, see the CSG Services & Fees page.

At launch, the CSG Thick Holder will come in three sizes — 3.5mm, 5.5mm and 7.25mm — to accommodate all thicknesses of cards up to 7.25mm. The appropriate size holder for your card will be determined by CSG’s highly trained staff at its sole discretion.

For efficiency, CSG has started encapsulating some thick cards that were already in-house in the CSG Thick Holder. This means submitters will start seeing the CSG Thick Holder in returned submissions right away.

Over the past several weeks, submitters may have also noticed slightly thicker holders being used for certain vintage and odd-sized cards that require a custom inner sleeve to be held securely in place. This holder does not qualify as a CSG Thick Holder as it is only slightly thicker than our standard holder. CSG uses it at its sole discretion for no additional fee.

No matter the thickness, all of the CSG holders lock and stack together for easy storage, display and portability, and now with five different thicknesses, the CSG holder accommodates more sizes of thick cards than any other third-party sports card grading service.
