CSG Services & Fees

CSG will certify cards with manufacturer’s certified (“pack pulled”) autographs. Cards with other autographs are not currently eligible for CSG certification.

A pedigree can be added to the certification label to indicate a card’s past or present ownership. To pedigree a card to a previous owner, that collector or collection must be considered to be significant by CSG and sufficient documentation must be provided to confirm the requested pedigree. You can pedigree a card to yourself, typically without providing any documentation.

Any requested pedigree that ties a card to a specific event, celebrity/athlete/public figure or a specific auction or auction house must have documentation proving such a pedigree. In the case of auction sales, a letter from the auction house along with images of the card(s) in question must be on file with CSG before approval.

CSG reserves the right to approve or deny any pedigree documentation provided.

A card in a PSA, Beckett* or SGC holder is evaluated for CSG certification. The card will be removed from its holder and encapsulated by CSG only if CSG believes that the card will receive a CSG grade that is the same or higher than the grade assigned by the other grading service. If CSG believes the card does not meet its standards for the grade, it will be returned in its original holder and the full grading fee will still apply.

Cross at Any Grade: If you would like your PSA, Beckett* or SGC-holdered card certified by CSG even if CSG determines that it will receive a lower grade, specify CROSS AT ANY GRADE.

*CSG treats Beckett BCCG encapsulated cards as raw cards. BCCG cards will be removed from their holders and crossed at any grade.

Sports cards that are thicker than standard stock are encapsulated in the CSG Thick Holder, which comes in three sizes: 3.5mm, 5.5mm and 7.25mm. If you are submitting a thick card, select "Thick" under "Holder Type" when filling out the CSG online submission form.

The appropriate size holder for your card will be determined by CSG's highly trained staff at its sole discretion.

In some cases, certain thick cards that would normally be accepted for certification may have irregular dimensions and cannot be encapsulated for this reason. In those cases, the cards will be returned unencapsulated ("raw"), and the grading fee will be refunded.
