CSG Certifies High-Grade Mickey Mantle Card

Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG®) has graded a spectacular example of a 1953 Topps #82 Mickey Mantle baseball card. It is graded CSG 6, the highest among the 20 examples in the CSG Population Report.

Mickey Mantle played 18 seasons with the New York Yankees. In that time, he won a Gold Glove, was a three-time MVP and helped his team win seven World Series Championships. In 1956, Mantle won the Triple Crown when he led the league in batting average, home runs and runs batted in (RBIs).

Mantle is widely considered one of the greatest ever to play the game of baseball, and his cards are among the most sought-after and most valuable sports cards. Despite an injury putting a damper on his 1953 stats, his card in that year’s Topps set is considered one of the most desirable for collectors. A card with a grade of CSG 6 would be expected to sell for around $10,000.

In the CSG Registry, Mantle is one of the top targets for Player Sets, with a total of 49 created as of September 2022. In the CSG Population Report, this card’s grade beats that of the next-highest example by 1.5 points.
